Japanese Supplementary School,
Copenhagen (CPHJPSS)
Japanese Supplementary School Copenhagen (CPHJPSS) is a non-profit association approved as a supplementary school by the Japanese Government. It is run by the parents organisation with guidance from the Embassy of Japan in Denmark.
The purpose of CPHJPSS is to support learnng of the children of Japanese descent in Copenhagen area, so that the children can return to the Japanese education system later on.
CPHJPSS holds Japanese and Mathematics classes for the 1st to 9th grades and kindergarden classes for 4 and 5 year olds on Saturdays. The school curriculum follows the guidelines specified by the Japanese Ministry of Education and Science. There are 38 school days a year, each with 4 class hours. In April 2022 CPHJPSS had about 80 students in the school and 30 students in the kindergarden. CPHJPSS organises many traditional Japanese events including New Year calligraphy, Sports Day, and Graduiation & Admission ceremony, so that students can experience near-real Japanese school life.
Admission
As all the communications regarding CPHJPSS are done in Japanese, at least one of the parents are required to be able to communicate in oral and written Japanese. Please refer to the 入学案内 for the specific admission requirements.
Support us
CPHJPSS is financed by the tuition fees, supplemented with the subsities from the Japanese government, and changes in the number of students have a significant impact on total income. To further enhance the educational environment for the students and improve the teachers' working conditions, we would sincerely appreciate your support.
All your contributions, no matter what size, are invaluable. The donations will be used e.g. to purchase Japanese language books, teaching materials, classroom items, to supplement the school events for the students, and to support the courses for teachers and staff.
